What’s in a Brand Name?

How to Build a Better Company Image

Your brand is made up of things like your company logo, the font you use on your website, the way your staff answers the phone, the design of your pamphlets, and how your office spaces or stores are decorated. It shapes the way people view your company and whatever products and services you’re selling. In sum, your brand is every way in how your customers see you.

It can be overwhelming to consider everything that goes into building the image of your company through the branding, but it is important because it can have a direct affect on your ability to bring in new customers and keep them over the long term. But what goes into a good brand? How do you improve your brand?

Here are four major components of your brand and how they contribute to a good company image:

1. Brand Name

The brand name is simply the name of your company. It has a huge impact on how people perceive your business. There is enormous value in a good brand name, like Apple or Starbucks, because it inspires confidence in any products or services that carry that name. It also inspires loyalty. If your company has a name that doesn’t reflect the type and quality of the work you do, you should consider rebranding by changing the name. It’s just that important.

2. Company Logo

Your company logo is the image version of your brand name. It is a symbol that should appear on and unify your business cards, website, social media pages, brochures and catalogs, staff uniforms, and company letterhead. If you don’t have a logo that reflects the image you want your company to have, you need one.

3. Website

The look of your website is hugely important for your business’ brand. The color, font, organization, and overall design will tell a potential customer everything they need to know about what your company has to offer. For example, if you’re selling a line of cleaning products and your website doesn’t have a clean, well-organized design, it won’t inspire confidence in your products.

4. Social Media

Social media is a great and inexpensive way to promote your company and build your brand. The things you post on social media platforms should be in line with the way you want customers to see your company. Funny GIFs of cats wearing sunglasses may make you laugh, but probably won’t inspire someone to call and order a pizza from your restaurant. (A GIF of a cat eating pizza, on the other hand, might to do trick.) Consider how well your social media relates to your brand and how different platforms might be valuable for branding your company.

NWA, Inc. helps business owners like you build your brand by offering the services you need to make sure everything your customer sees tells the story you want and demonstrates the value of your products and services.
